FBI Releases Details, Items Found With Human Remains In Pennsylvania Investigation

The FBI and Fairview Township Police are working to identify a woman whose remains were found in a wooded area on Dec. 9, 2024, authorities announced.

The remains, discovered in the 300 block of Pleasant View Road, belonged to a woman who had been in the area for a significant time, police said. Investigators have submitted DNA samples for testing and are pursuing multiple leads.

The Mercyhurst Forensic Anthropology Lab estimates the woman died between 2018 and 2023. According to NamUs, she was white, 30 to 60 years old, with strawberry blonde hair, standing between 4 feet 8 inches and 5 feet 3 inches tall. Recovered items included a black 'Coogi' jacket, a 'ZEROXPOSUR' inner jacket, a Nike t-shirt, two bras, two pairs of pants, three silver-tone rings, a rose gold 'Fossil' watch, a black plastic choker, and a single tie-dye Nike sneaker (youth size 4.5) found near I-83.

The York County Coroner’s Office, York County Forensics Team, York County Detectives Office, and Mercyhurst Forensic Scene Recovery Team are assisting the investigation.

Police stress there is no threat to the public. The investigation remains active with further updates pending.
